Gamecock.com

The owners of Gamecock.com wanted to take advantage of a very popular and in-demand domain name, Gamecock.com, and develop a site that would draw fans of the South Carolina Gamecocks.  Broadstreet developed a community site that has attracted hundreds of members and several regular bloggers.  The site also aggregates South Carolina Gamecock news and commentary from a variety of sources.  Broadstreet has also developed Affiliate relationships with several other sites that provide products and services to Gamecock.com visitors.  These affiliate relationships provide an income stream for Gamecock.com's ownership team.    

Broadstreet chose Drupal as the ideal platform for developing an online community.  Drupal is an open-source Content Management System (CMS) that enables any qualified member to produce content.   Besides a very robust core system, Drupal also has over 2,000 user-contributed modules that enhance the functionality of the system. 

Some of the features and modules implemented for Gamecock.com are:

  1. Captcha Security.  Any time you allow the public to produce content for your site, you will have a problem with spammers.  Spammers create robots that automatically detect your site and begin signing up for accounts and generating content if you let them.  Usually the content consists of links to sites selling drugs or pornography.  Captcha requires a human being to read an image and type in the result before receiving access to the site.  This prevents robots from accessing the site.
  2. Blogs.  Every member of Gamecock.com has their own blog and can share their thoughts and opinions with the rest of the community any time they want. 
  3. Affiliate Marketing.  Broadstreet established relationships with eBay, Amazon, and Football Fanatics, a store specializing in Official NCAA clothing. 
  4. RSS Aggregation.  Broadstreet has constructed "smart feeds" that read other content sources from across the web and indexes them on our site.  Gamecock.com is updated hourly with new Gamecock-related content from around the Web.
